Message from MoDOT

Blanchette BridgeIn recent years the St. Louis Region has undertaken a variety of transportation studies within the I-70 corridor to review specific modes (freight, Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), highway). None of these, however, have focused on developing a comprehensive multi-modal vision for one corridor like I-70. As the St. Louis Region looks toward the future of this important corridor, there is increasing focus on sustainable mobility, economic competitiveness, and the relationships between community characters and transportation. The I-70 corridor is critical to our region’s transportation network. MoDOT, Metro and the East-West Gateway Council of Governments have initiated a study to develop a strategic plan for the future of the I-70 corridor.

The Envision I-70 Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) Study is a relatively new approach to transportation planning. This is the first time our Region has conducted such a study and is a tool to assess the current and future needs of a transportation corridor at a very high level. The end product will be the development of multi-modal strategies that are responsive to the St. Louis Region’s future needs along I-70.

Please join us as we travel down this exciting new path to transportation planning!
